Sustainability Tips: Taking Care of Jewelry
Avoid any contact with water whenever possible
Water reacts with most metals, so the more contact your metal jewelry has with water the more likely it will be to tarnish or turn a different color. Take your jewelry off when doing the doing the dishes, going swimming, working out and taking a shower.
Store in a safe place
Keeping them in a cool (non humid) place is also important.
Take jewelry off before going to sleep, and when applying lotion or perfumes to your body
Do not leave in sunlight (this is especially important for crystal pieces as the sun can damage certain gems if they are exposed to harsh light for too long).
Taking care of jewelry is important to ensure that it will last a long time, because even the nicest pieces are prone to tangling and tarnishing if not properly cared for.
How to Clean Jewelry At Home:
We recommend using a polishing cloth or microfiber cloth to clean our jewelry, especially after wearing. Stay away from jewelry cleaners and antibacterial soaps which may have certain components that will just make gold plated jewelry tarnish more quickly.
